As a brief thought I was quite literally just catching a taxi to the airport from my hotel directly under the Sears Tower in Chicago when the first plane hit the World Trade Centre.  I was on my way to Toronto to meet up with friends that morning and what followed during the course of the next twenty four hours was, for me, probably the most frightening time of my life.

I was very thankfully spared the direct sadness, loss and grief of those who lost loved ones and comrades that day.  But I shared their fear and a sense of loss of everything we had called sane.

My heart goes out to them, and they are in my prayers.
